Challenges

Points will be awarded in each of the five categories overall, making it extremely difficult to score points in all events unless the vehicle and driver are on top form on the day! To determine the outcome we will be looking at the following categories: Quarter Mile Sprint/Top Speed, Brake Horse Power (Dynotest), Manoeuvrability, Pit Stop Challenge and finally the Concours.

In each of the five categories, judging will be on a points basis and how this works will be determined nearer the date. All teams taking part in this event are battling it out for the DubMasters Trophy, a highly contested piece of silverware, along with a fantastic Motorsport/Track Day outing for their team (TBC), so don’t miss the chance to take part in Inchcape Volkswagen’s Greatest Ever Event – DubMasters2008!

Stopwatch 01. Quarter Mile Sprint/Top Speed
In this category, the Drag Strip is where you’ll have to race against the clock to achieve the fastest time and the maximum number of points. From a standing start we’ll not just find out how quick your vehicle is over quarter of a mile, we’ll also see if the Technicians have been doing their homework!

wheel 02. BHP (PS) - Dynotest
The Dynotest will consist of a specific number of actual runs and a colour plot of torque, BHP (PS), air/fuel ratio and air inlet temperatures, providing a full diagnostic of your team's vehicle results. A test of just how good your team’s Motor Vehicle Technician really is!

track 03. Manoeuvrability
An obstacle course will be set up and used to assess, not only the handling and manoeuvrability of the team’s vehicle but also how bad (sorry, I mean good) the nominated Team Driver is. There’ll be the slalom section, reversing, parking and driving the vehicle through the narrowest of gaps (at speed)…and just to make it more interesting, there’ll be a time limit!

spanner 04. Pit Stop Challenge
How well will your team work together under pressure? In this category, the Pit Stop Challenge will test your team to the limit. With one trolley jack and a spare wheel, you’ll have to race against the clock to achieve the fastest time and the maximum number of points. We will find out just how efficient your team is!

rosette 05. Concours (Aesthetics)
This is an opportunity for the Technicians and their teams to display their prized vehicles, highlighting just how much hard work, attention to detail and preparation has been applied. And an opportunity for the Bodyshop to shine! Whose vehicle looks the coolest, the fastest, or even the baddest? We will wait and see!
